Liquor Stores
The supermarket titans, Coles and Woolworths, dominate Australia's alcohol retail sector, with 48 per cent of liquor sales coming from Woolworths-owned stores, and Coles taking a 18 per cent share of the market.

To further increase profits, Woolworths and Coles import liquor under misleading names and load up their stores with these difficult to spot 'phantom brands', often undercutting the well known brands. To get a slice of Australia's $16 billion beer industry, both companies have introduced their own phantom brand beers.
  • Buy from independently owned bottle shops/pubs.
  • Choose local, independent Australian-owned brands
